LYNCHBURG - The Liberty women's basketball team didn't settle for success on the basketball court last season.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association says the Lady Flames team that claimed its 11th Big South Conference title in the past 12 years in March was even better in the classroom, ranking 14th in the country.
Liberty's team grade-point average was 3.354, placing it among the top 25 academic teams for the fourth time in coach Carey Green's nine years.
The Lady Flames finished 28-4 last season and were one of just three teams that made the NCAA tournament to also make the academic top 25.
The others are No. 2 Kansas State and No. 22 New Mexico. - The Associated Press
