WOOD'S WINNERS

Second race - No. 1 Flybyboy nearly took full advantage of a class drop last start, and with a return to similar company and Garcia up top again, he could nose out his competitors today. No. 2 Geaux Bayou's last turf start was a fourth-place finish, but he had a rough start in the 5+ furlong race. Trainer Dennehy's barn is hot and this 3 year old will be game. No. 5 Glorious Sunrise is getting closer to that maiden breaking win. He seems to have found the right class and distance, and he is the early choice. No. 1 in a mild upset.

Fifth race - No. 7 Sami's Dancer's only turf start was in a $65,000 claiming race back in January 2007 at Gulfstream Park. He's in a $5,000 claimer today and shortens to the sprint distance. No. 5 Cranberry Covet has yet to finish "out of the money" in five Colonial starts, and is fresh off a dominant win here June 24. No. 1 Peace Rock is actually the 2-1 favorite in this wide open field. He's good at Colonial, good on the turf period, and has the top rider in the irons. This seven horse field is anybody's race, so let's use this trio in an exacta and trifecta box. Go with No. 7 as the top pick.

Sixth race - No. 5 Eight in a Row hasn't shown much in his last pair, but a five furlong grass sprint at Pimlico on May 2nd offers hope, and at 6-1 early odds, would make a nice score. No. 2 Distinctive Ridge imports from Florida where he has yet to win in 19 starts at Gulfstream and Calder. He missed by less than a length on June 26 and the new scenery could be a good omen. No. 6 Trippedoutofadream drops down a slight notch and could crack the top three in his second life outing. No. 5 to win, and to make it one in a row.
