WOOD'S WINNERS

First Race - Hopefully, we can start out fireworks night with a bang and No.3 Langfuhr Lad is the pick to do so. Last start at Colonial, he started from the far outside, post No.11, and after leading thru much of the race, faded in deep stretch. He drops in class this evening and jockey Franklin is back up top. No.7 Adios My lady also drops in class and has been much more consistent this year than in the past couple. Jozbin Santana, though winless in 16 mounts, has more than his fair share of seconds and thirds . No.4 Got the Spirit just broke his maiden June 11 and trainer John Boniface is 3-for-5 this meet. No.3 to win, hopefully at a "bang-up" price.

Third Race -- No.3 Love Conquers has rolled at Colonial in past years, mainly in local $60,000 stakes races. The 6-year-old really seems the best in this turf claimer and the Ross-Pino-Garcia connection could provide fireworks. No.4 Gold House is 3-for-4 at the New Kent oval and had a runner-up finish earlier this year at Gulfstream in similar company. No.5 Talented Tango invades from Florida and rarely strays from this type of race. He's had success at Colonial in the past and a top 3 finish could be expected here. No.3 to conquer the field.

Sixth Race -- No.5 M.E.'s Smile collected a nice allowance win back in April but will see a jockey change today since rider Russell, who is scheduled, is recovering from a broken wrist. No.1 Nigeria's last grass race at the mile distance resulted in a solid third and trainer Earl Begley's barn is smokin' here. No.6 Cashew Cat has been insanely consistent this year while competing in modest conditions. She will be a factor here. No.5 smiles for the winners' circle picture.
