WHAT: United Soccer Leagues Second Division game
WHEN/WHERE: Tonight at 7, Charlotte Christian School
NOTABLE: The first of three meetings between these longtime rivals in the next six weeks. . . . The Eagles opened their season last Saturday with a 6-0 rout of Bermuda. Forward Dustin Swinehart, who played in eight games for Richmond in 2005, scored four goals. . . . Former Kickers standout and USL2 MVP Robert Ssejjemba didn't play in Charlotte's opener. Forward Jacob Coggins, who led USL2 in scoring last season, signed with the Carolina RailHawks (USL1). . . . Three players scored in Richmond's 3-0 win over Western Mass. last week, with forward Ben Hunter assisting on two of the goals. Goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale had three saves, as his defense mostly kept the ball away from Richmond's net. . . . Kickers forward Fabian Dawkins still hasn't arrived from Jamaica, although coach Leigh Cowlishaw expects him soon. Defenders Kevin Knight and Kelvin Jones and midfielder Eliot Paschalis likely won't play because of injuries and forward Pat Viray (schoolwork) will also miss this game. . . . These teams play again May 24 in Richmond, the Kickers' next home game, and June 3 in Charlotte. . . . Richmond has won six straight in the series, including all four last year.
