HUNTSVILLE 5, RENEGADES 4

SPHL
Today:Renegades at Huntsville, 8:30 p.m.

By STAFF REPORTS

Richmond made it closer than usual at the Von Braun Center but still couldn't pull out a win in Huntsville, Ala.

Huntsville's third power-play goal of the game was the difference as the Havoc beat the Renegades 5-4 last night, handing the visitors their seventh loss without a victory in this arena since Richmond joined the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Tristan Fairbarn's second goal of the evening 5:48 into the third period sent Richmond to its fourth straight setback.

After allowing the Havoc to score twice in 24 seconds midway through the opening period, the Renegades answered with a pair.

J.J. Wrobel got Richmond on the board with a power-play goal at 13:51, then Donald Melnyk tied it with his 18th goal of the season a little less than three minutes later. Defenseman Martin Kloucek assisted on both of the goals.

The Renegades fell behind again early in the second when Travis Kauffeldt scored for Huntsville at 1:42.

Again Richmond battled back, this time getting two goals from Andre Gill - his 25th and 26th - to take a 4-3 lead. Gill's second score came during a two-man advantage. Trevor Karasiewicz assisted on both of Gill's goals.

But the Havoc capitalized on a 5-on-3 advantage to tie it on Kauffeldt's second goal of the period.
