WOOD'S WINNERS
First Race - No.7 She Loves Me Now seems to have found a niche competing in turf sprints, and that's exactly what today's kickoff race is. She won by a neck last time out and actually drops a notch in class, so jock Karamanos could be getting his picture taken, again. No.3 Gold Marie also is hitting her stride by running shorter distances. Since shortening, Gold Marie has put a nice three race streak together. No.5 Explode takes another step down in class. She has yet to finish any better than sixth though since breaking her maiden over a year ago. No.7 to win.
Seventh Race - We'll try for a nice score with an upset horse here. No.2 Kettle Run has really done nothing in her last quartet of outings but in her fifth most recent start, her last one on turf, she broke her maiden in a dominating gate to wire effort. The weather looks great for later, and the turf will be firm. No.10 Hard Rockin switched to turf last start and saw an immediate turnaround in her fortunes. Garcia is back up top and this filly will be a factor. No.9 Alpine Getaway tumbles in class and gets a jockey change to Franklin. No.2 in the upset.
Eighth Race - Can No.1 Famed Affair, a true frontrunner, hang on this time at the mile distance on dirt? After three straight races where he faded, a class drop and surface switcheroo could do the trick. No.10 Classical Master is fresh off a pair of thirds and rider Katie Crews has been hot this week. No.2 Tucklino stretches from 5 1/2 furlongs in his first Colonial Downs start ever. No.1 hangs on.
