WOOD'S WINNERS

First Race - No.5 Bagger Vance came very close last start in this same class and jock Karamanos is back in the irons today. He lost by a nose in that race and today, could be a nose better. No.6 Hide and Sneek broke his maiden here last August and has struggled since then. The 5-year-old finds himself in a modest claimer here and he could easily turn things around. No.3 Mr. Awad earned his maiden win at Colonial June 24 and cannot be overlooked. This seven horse field is most competitive, but we'll try No.5 to win.

Fifth Race - Mike Trombetta's entry of No.1 So Vain and No.1A Quickquestionforya both make lifetime debuts here. There's not much to go on as far as past performance information goes, but the Trombetta stable is hot and a 2-for-1 betting combo is nice. No.9 Innovative has solid connections in Graham Motion and Horacio Karamanos, and has had some solid recent workouts in preparation for this race. No.7 Delectable Cat lost by a neck June 20. His trainer has been a bridesmaid in all 7 of his Colonial starts this year. The entry to win.

Ninth Race - No.3 Finishlion tumbles into a modest claiming race for last week's top trainer, Karen Dennehy. We'll have to see how he adjusts to dirt though. No.4 Charles the First has had some decent moments and some not so decent moments in maiden special weight company in search of his first win. The 6-year-old has 14 starts and is still searching. No.1 Sir Stretchalot drops in class and jockey Katie Crews has found success here at times in the young meet. No.3 to win.
