The two men accused of shooting into the occupied off-campus apartment of Virginia Tech cornerback Victor Harris had hearings Monday in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
The hearings determined that Anthony Jobair Lucas, 22, of Washington, will go on trial Aug. 27 for discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, a felony.
Augustus Pajibo Peal, 23, of Christiansburg, also will appear in court Aug. 27 for a hearing to determine a trial date. Peal faces the same charge as Lucas and another felony, possession of a firearm by a felon.
The trials for both men had been scheduled for May 6 but were continued.
The charges stem from the early morning hours of Nov. 11, when Blacksburg police said Lucas and Peal fired into Harris' apartment. Four people were inside at the time, including Harris, a Highland Springs High graduate and Tech's top player for the upcoming season, during which he will be a senior. No one was injured. - Darryl Slater
