BLACKSBURG -- Justin Wright struck out seven in a complete-game performance, and Virginia Tech scored four runs in the final two innings to rally past No. 1 Miami 7-6 yesterday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Klint Reed (L.C. Bird) led Tech, going 3 for 4 with three RBI.
Game 2 was a different story as Miami's Enrique Garcia held the Hokies to just two runs on four hits and a walk. The Hurricanes scored early to take a 4-0 lead and never looked back in defeating Tech 9-2.

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Jared Bolden's hot bat and the arms of Cody Eppley and Ian Thomas led VCU to a doubleheader sweep of Hofstra.
Bolden hit three home runs in the twin bill, and both hurlers notched complete games.
Bolden finished 6 for 8 with four runs scored and five RBI to go along with two doubles. Bolden also extended his hitting streak to 16 games. Carlos Rodriguez had a strong outing as well, going 4 for 7 with a run scored and two RBI.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Richmond rallied with four runs in the sixth inning to tie the game, but Charlotte pulled away to sweep the Atlantic 10 series.
Hank Coogan and Evan Stehle each had three hits for the Spiders, with Coogan extending his hitting streak to a career-long 21 games. Stehle has gotten a hit in six straight.
On Friday, Richmond had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the ninth, but a catch by the Charlotte shortstop stole Stehle's possible game-tying hit, giving the 49ers a come-from-behind 8-7 win. Ryan Metzroth went 2 for 5 for the Spiders, scoring two runs with two RBI and a home run.

Pat McAnaney took the loss for U.Va. after giving up five earned runs, six hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 42/3 innings. Jeremy Farrell went 1 for 4 for the Cavaliers with a triple and Phil Gosselin had an RBI single.

ATHENS, Ga. -- Virginia's Joy Kim posted five birdies over her final nine holes at the NCAA East Region tournament to propel the Cavaliers to the championships for the first time since 2005. Virginia finished fifth at 34-over 898.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE
LANCASTER, Pa. -- Laura Henson led Washington and Lee with two goals and two assists, but the Generals fell to Amherst 10-8 in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Sixth-ranked Washington and Lee finished its season 17-3.
