FORT MILL, S.C. -- Chris Getz and Royce Huffman hit home runs as the Charlotte Knights routed the Richmond Braves 8-2 last night in the International League.

After Getz's home run in the first inning, the Braves tied the game 1-1 in the second when a Carl Loadenthal groundout allowed Barbaro Canizares to score from third.

The Knights moved ahead 2-1 in the third on Jason Bourgeois' RBI single.

The Knights increased their lead in the fifth, scoring three runs on a ground-rule double by Getz, a ground out by Josh Fields and a Danny Richar RBI single. They made it 8-1 in the eighth off a Cole Armstrong RBI single and Huffman's two-run home run.

Richmond got one run back in the ninth with a run-scoring single by Loadenthal.

Braves pitcher Matt DeSalvo (2-8) left after four innings; he struck out seven and walked four. Clint Sammons had two hits to lead the Braves.

Tonight, right-hander Jerome Gamble is slated to pitch for Richmond against Charlie Haeger.
