CHARLOTTE, N.C. --The Richmond Braves scored three runs in the 10th inning last night to beat the Charlotte Knights 6-4.
Jason Perry led off the inning with a walk, then stole second base and moved to third on a Barbaro Canizares single to left field. Diory Hernandez reached first, and Perry scored, on a fielder's choice by Knights third baseman Royce Huffman, whose errant throw allowed Canizares to advance to third. A sacrifice fly scored Canizares, and a Clint Sammons double brought in Hernandez for the final run.
Charlotte threatened in the bottom of the 10th, scoring on a two-out double by Fernando Cortez. But Braves pitcher Zach Schreiber got Paul Phillips to fly out to end the game.
The Braves tied the game in the top of the ninth. After singles by Hernandez and Reggie Taylor, a sacrifice fly by Sammons moved the runners to second and third. With Enrique Cruz batting, Scott Sauerbeck threw a wild pitch, and Hernandez raced in to score.
Richmond trailed 3-2 after eight innings, with Perry driving in both runs on a fourth-inning home run and an eighth-inning double.
