MIDDLEBURG -- Ryan West scattered four hits in a complete-game effort to help Benedictine defeat Notre Dame Academy 5-2 to win the Cavalier Athletic Conference title.

With the score 2-2 in the sixth inning, Chris Dyer opened the inning with a single and advanced to second on an error. He was sacrified to third by Tucker Poole, then Chris Logan, a pinch-hitter, was hit by a pitch and stole second.

With runners in scoring position, Peddy Kozak laid down a squeeze play bunt, getting thrown out at first but bringing Dyer across to score the go-ahead run. The team went on to score two more in the inning.

One of Notre Dame's runs was a home run from Ryan Crosby, who will play for VCU next spring.
