  • What he did: Shulman met his chief challengers for the top high school player in the Central Region in back-to-back matches last week and defeated both. The Wildcats' captain thumped Zach Carl of Douglas Freeman 6-1, 6-1 in a match last Thursday, then followed up with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 victory over two-time All-Metro player of the year Kyle Parker of Mills Godwin on Friday. Deep Run, ranked No. 2 behind Mills Godwin in the T-D top 10, beat Douglas Freeman 6-3. Despite the Wildcats' winning the No. 1 and No. 2 singles against Mills Godwin, the Eagles won 6-3.
