Visits from Wake Forest and Xavier highlight the University of Richmond men's basketball schedule, released yesterday.
The Spiders are also likely to face Syracuse in the 16-team College Basketball Experience, a tournament whose field has not been finalized. The tourney will provide UR with four games.
A mid-January trip to Virginia Tech gives UR two ACC opponents. Game times will be determined later.
There's a new scheduling formula for A-10 games. Each of the 14 teams plays all others once for 13 conference dates. The A-10 arranged its membership in three groups based on teams' projected strength, and each team will twice play one opponent from each of the three groups to complete the 16-game conference obligation. Scheduled rematches are based on geography, rivalries, and other factors.
Richmond will meet George Washington, Charlotte and Saint Louis twice each.
Richmond went 16-15 last season, its first winning season since 2003-04, and finished its Atlantic 10 Conference schedule 9-7. The Spiders return all but three members of that team's playing rotation: departed seniors Gaston Moliva and Oumar Sylla, and Dan Geriot, a two-year starter who will miss 2008-09 because of a knee injury suffered in July.
