NORFOLK - Brandon Jones homered twice as the Richmond Braves routed the Norfolk Tides 7-0 last night.

Jones hit a two-out, solo home run in the first inning, and two more runs scored on a throwing error by Norfolk shortstop Freddie Bynum for a 3-0 lead.

Jones' second home run was a three-run blast with no outs in the second. Jason Perry later singled in Diory Hernandez for the final run.

Norfolk starter Hayden Penn (5-7) lasted just two-thirds of an inning, giving up three hits and three runs (one earned). Richmond's James Parr (1-2) picked up his first victory of the year, scattering six hits in seven innings.

Hernandez was 2 for 5 with two runs for the R-Braves.

Norfolk's best opportunity to score came in the bottom of the fourth when Freddie Bynum tripled with one out. However, he was stranded there when Jeff Fiorentino flied out to center field, and Chris Heintz grounded out to shortstop.

The Tides were set down in order in each of the final four innings.
