Black's walk-off blast wins championship for Tuckahoe

CAROLINE - Will Black's one-out, walk-off homer capped a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning as Tuckahoe American beat defending champion SYA-East, 7-6, to claim the state 11-12 Little League tournament title yesterday.

Scott Parkhurst was 2 for 2 with a double and a run, Trent Young had a two-run home run, and Jason Lovings and Austin White each hit homers.

Tuckahoe advanced to the Southeast Regional tournament in St. Petersburg, Fla. for the first time since 1993.

AAU 13U: Colton Konvika went 2 for 3 with three stolen bases and Chance Pauley had two hits as VSC Blue defeated the BCC Bulldogs 10-7 in the 13U Division 1 AAU tournament in Virginia Beach.

In the second game, Tripp Dodson went 2 for 3 and stole home for the game-winning run in VSC's 5-4 victory over the New England Mavericks.

STATE 10-11: Kiandra Mitchum and Kerstin Winston both went 2 for 3 with two runs scored to help Mechanicsville blow past Washington County 13-3 and win the State 10-11 Little League championship game in Bristol. Ryleigh Hawker had two hits and two runs for Mechanicsville.

In the quarterfinals, Micalah Sacre was 3 for 4 with a triple and a double for the Storm as it defeated the Ohio Pride 7-3.

AAU GIRLS 16s: Becca Wann scored 18 points and Kristen Sims put up 14 as the Richmond Reign defeated the New England Crusaders 73-41 in the AAU 16U Junior Nationals in Washington D.C. Seja Gamble and Kim Browning also helped the Reign, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.

In another game, Wann scored 17 points to lead the Richmond Reign to a 65-33 victory over Team Unique (Washington, D.C.). Candice Silas and Browning each added 10.
