RALEIGH, N.C. - Phil Gosselin hit a two-run home run in the 10th inning to give Virginia a 5-3 win over N.C. State yesterday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Michael Schwimer earned his first win of the year after pitching the final two innings for the Cavaliers, and Greg Miclat and David Adams each recorded three hits.
In Game 2, N.C. State's Clayton Shunick and Jimmy Gillheeney combined on a three-hit shutout as the Wolfpack won 2-0.
N.C. State did its damage in the second inning on Drew Martin's two-run double. Shunick pitched eight innings, struck out a career-best nine batters, gave up three hits and walked just one.
Pat McAnaney allowed just two runs, six hits and two walks while striking out for in seven innings, and Kevin Arico pitched a scoreless eighth for the Cavaliers.

ATLANTA - Jason Haniger hit a two-run home run and Eddie Burns pitched strong to help Georgia Tech beat Virginia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on Haniger's two-run homer. Derek Dietrich drove in two runs on a single in the next inning.
Burns gave up a home run to Ty Hohman in the opening inning for Georgia Tech, but he didn't allow any more runs as he struck out eight and gave up eight hits in 52/3 innings.
Jay Dantzler and Brad Feltes each had home runs in the fifth to give Yellow Jackets a 6-1 lead.
The Hokies scored two runs in the seventh on a homer by Anthony Sosnoskie.
Sean McDermott allowed six runs and seven hits in five innings for Virginia Tech.

Princeton capitalized on two costly Richmond errors in the seventh inning to score four unearned runs and beat the Spiders. Richmond, leading 2-1 in the fifth, tried to mount a last-inning comeback but Andrew Lowry's first collegiate home run (a three-run shot) wasn't enough.
In the pivotal seventh, Dan DeGeorge reached on a leadoff error and scored when Matt Conner doubled him home. Jack Murphy then reached on an error with one out, and Spencer Lucian followed with a two-run homer.
Evan Stehle went 3 for 4 and Ryan Metzroth had two hits for the Spiders. Brian Farrell went five innings with nine strikeouts, allowing just two runs on two hits.
