Judy Fleming wasn't a NASCAR fan when she landed her role as one of the three women who fantasize about Kasey Kahne in Allstate commercials.
The redhead, a Warwick Christian graduate who grew up in Richmond, said she didn't know much about the sport or about Kahne. The two newest commercials debuted last week, including one in which the women dream of Kahne dancing after they sponsored his car.
The best part for Fleming? Watching Kahne record the commercial.
"It's so hard to get him to say anything," Fleming said of the quiet Kahne. "We're three women in our 30s and we say all these raunchy things and it's so weird because he's very straight. It was fun to watch him doing that. We all stuck around. We could have gone back to the hotel, but we were like, 'No, we'll watch this.'"
Fleming has done commercials for 10 years since moving to Los Angeles, but said she's trying to explore more of the sitcom side of acting. She said the notoriety that comes with being in the commercials is good, but she hopes it doesn't backfire with her being typecast.
"They are becoming well-known, and that has been my main job," Fleming said. "I have the best time doing them." - Jill Erwin
