Language Arts in the Comics

Teachers:
You can find all types of examples of grammar, figures of speech, or literary references in the comics.

Here are some activities your students can do.


A. Find at least five different contractions in the comics. Write them and beside them, write the two words that make the contraction.

B. Look for grammatical errors in the comics. Put these on your bulletin board.

C. Write out the dialogue in Peanuts making only the words that should be capitalized, capitalized.

D. Write out the conversation in Peanuts using correct punctuation, quotation marks, etc. Example: Lucy said, "Kick the football, Charlie Brown."

E. Increase reading skills by having students predict what will happen tomorrow in two serial comics.
