The Richmond Chapter of Executive Women International (EWI) recently awarded nine J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College students $1,700 each to assist in funding their education.
The JSRCC recipients are:
Latoya Douglas (Human Services), Jeanette Gilbo (Nursing), Sherika Gillison-Chew (Education), Rashiba Hill (Business Administration), Ronald Ingram (Automotive Technology), Christie Johnson (Business Administration), Marvin Jones (Business Administration), Tanya Shelton (Health Records Coding) and Kelly Toomey (Medical Field).
Gilbo also was submitted to EWI Corporate to be eligible for an additional $2,500 scholarship.
The EWI Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) program is for non-traditional students who are entering college for the first time or retraining because of changes in the work force, while facing economic, social or physical challenges.
The Richmond Chapter of EWI has awarded more than $100,000 to nearly 70 scholarship recipients during the past eight years.
EWI has more than 75 chapters in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Founded in 1938, EWI provides businesswomen from diverse industries a forum for promoting their firms, enhancing their personal and professional development and engaging in community activities.
EWI has more than 3,000 companies and 3,500 representatives as members.
