RENEGADES 7, TWIN CITY 2

SPHL

By WIRE REPORTS

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Richmond Renegades shared the wealth in burying Twin City for their ninth straight victory.

Getting goals from seven different players, the Renegades kept up their march toward first place in the Southern Professional Hockey League with a 7-2 rout of the Cyclones.

Home or road, blowout or close call, the Renegades have consistently dispatched all comers since a 7-4 loss to Huntsville on Jan. 3.

Special teams were a force last night, as they were in Friday night's 3-0 win at Knoxville.

Trevor Karasiewicz, J.J. Wrobel and Andre Gill rang up power-play goals in the first period. R.C. Lyke's score with a man advantage at 5:35 of the third period sealed this deal on enemy ice.

All told, the Renegades were 4 of 9 skating a man up, with Dan Vandermeer picking up an assist on each score. The night before, a power-play goal and a short-handed tally in the third period were key to the win.

Ryan Senft again was a wall in goal, denying 39 of 41 shots. Senft (11-5-0) has been in the pipes for the past five games, fashioning a 1.60 goals-against average and posting two shutouts in that span. Richmond, which trails first-place Knoxville by four points, returns to action Wednesday against Huntsville at the Coliseum. Faceoff is 7:35 p.m.
