Palmer Mebane, a senior at Maggie L. Walker Governor's School from Midlothian, is one of 13 students in the U.S. (and the only one from Virginia) who has qualified to take the International Math Olympiad team selection test in Washington, D.C., on June 7-8.

The top six scorers on the test will represent the U.S. in the International Math Olympiad competition in Madrid, Spain, this July.

In June, Palmer will attend the Math Olympiad summer camp in Lincoln, Neb., which is four weeks of intensive training for current and future U.S. Math Olympiad teams.
