A Gordonsville woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 33 in Louisa County on Sunday afternoon, according to Virginia State Police.
Emily Harini Thangian, 58, was driving a pickup truck that was struck by a pickup truck driven by Gary Lee Hite, 42, of Louisa, state police Sgt. Tom Cunningham said. Hite's truck was heading east on U.S. 33, a little more than a mile east of U.S. 15, just before 4 p.m. when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with Thangian's truck, police said.
Thangian died at the scene, Cunningham said.
Hite and a passenger in his truck, Mary J. Hite, 63, also of Louisa, were taken by ambulance to University of Virginia Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Cunningham said.
Thangian and both of the Hites were wearing seat belts, he said.
Thangian's death brought the state's highway death toll to 291, compared with 331 as of the same date last year.
