Sen. Barack Obama won easily in tonight's North Carolina Democratic primary. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton clung to a much more modest lead in Indiana.
Virginians involved in the two candidates' campaigns were already looking ahead.
Two of Clinton's superdelegates said the fight goes on.
"It was a split decision; now it's on to West Virginia and Kentucky," said Susan Swecker of Richmond, a member of the Democratic National Committee.
"We're where we were [Monday] night," before the votes in Indiana and North Carolina, added Mame Reiley of Alexandria, another DNC member.
Charlie Kelly, political director of Moving Virginia Forward, the political committee of Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, hailed Obama's North Carolina victory.
"It's great news for the Obama campaign and the effort he put forth in North Carolina," Kelly said.
With the big win in North Carolina and the closer-than-expected contest in Indiana, the Illinois senator added to his "insurmountable delegate lead and picked up important momentum," Kelly said.
Kaine is a national co-chairman of Obama's campaign.
Of Virginia's 16 superdelegates six back Clinton, four support Obama and six are uncommitted.
