Richmond man dies in Chesterfield crash
Two others die in wrecks on Virginia roads, police report

A Richmond man died yesterday from injuries he received in a single-car crash in Chesterfield County late Wednesday, Virginia State Police said.

Joseph Chadwick Henderson of the 6300 block of Leisure Terrace died at 12:34 a.m. at St. Francis Medical Center, police said.

Henderson, 22, was eastbound on Millridge Parkway near the intersection with Court Ridge Road when his car ran off the right side and struck several trees shortly before midnight Wednesday, police said.

He was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

State police reported two other deaths on Virginia roadways.

An Amissville woman died Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Loudoun County.

Stephanie Rose Wilhelmi, 23, was traveling north on U.S. 15 less than a mile south of Tamworth Farm Road when her sport utility vehicle crossed the center line and struck a tractor-trailer at 6 a.m., police said. She died at the scene.

She was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

A North Carolina man died June 27 in a motorcycle crash in Chesapeake, police said.

Robert Lee Hood Jr., 61, of Elizabeth City, N.C., was traveling on Mount Pleasant Road less than a mile east of Fall Ridge Lane when his motorcycle ran off the right side, traveled 93 feet and struck a utility pole at 6:30 p.m., police said. He died at the scene.

He was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

The fatalities brought the state's highway 2008 death toll to 399, compared with 492 at the same time last year.
