Two people died yesterday in early morning crashes on Virginia roads, Virginia State Police report.
Matthew B. Thomas of Charlottesville died when his motorcycle struck a building at Plank and Johnsons roads in Albemarle County, police said. He died at the scene shortly after 1:30 a.m., police said.
Thomas, 23, was wearing a helmet, authorities said.
A Blacksburg teenager died in a single-car crash in Montgomery County.
Ayesha K. Wintersdorff, 16, was westbound on state Route 46 at West Main Street when her car struck a culvert, rolled over and slid onto an entry ramp, went over a guardrail and slid down an embankment shortly before 5 a.m., police said.
She was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

A Virginia Beach woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Virginia Beach, police said.
Sarah B. Wirth, 21, was westbound on Elbow Road at its intersection with Walpole Road when her sport utility vehicle veered off the road and overturned at 2:30 a.m., police said. She died at the scene shortly after the crash.
She was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
A Baltimore man died in a single-vehicle crash in James City County.
Lawrence Gray Jr., 51, was pulling a trailer when his pickup truck struck a hillside on Interstate 64 just west of state Route 199. The pickup truck and the trailer overturned and he was ejected at 8:16 a.m., police said. He died at the scene at 8:37 a.m., police said.
He was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.
State police also reported that a Fredericksburg man died in a single-vehicle crash in Chesterfield County on Thursday afternoon.
Larry D. Dawley, 59, was eastbound on Hull Street Road about a mile west of Sappony Road when his minivan struck a tree at 4:16 p.m. He died at 4:33 p.m. at the scene, police said.
He was wearing a seat belt, police said.
The fatalities brought the 2008 death toll on Virginia roads to 392, compared with 476 at the same time last year.
