Two men, one of whom is the head of the Richmond teachers' union, are due in court today after they were arrested for a suspected road-rage incident on Interstate 95.
A state trooper stopped the drivers yesterday morning after seeing them trying to cut each another off.
Wade Ellegood, 52, and Edward C. Doyle III, 30, were charged with misdemeanor assault and reckless driving, Virginia State Police Sgt. Tom Cunningham said. The incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. between the Boulevard and Belvidere Street exits in Richmond.
Ellegood, president of the Richmond Education Association, said last night he regrets chasing a driver who he said scraped his vehicle while passing him in the left shoulder.
"I should have taken an extra second to think about what I was doing," Ellegood said. "I'm going to take this as a learning experience."
