PETERSBURG -- The Petersburg School Board has approved the change of Vernon Johns Middle School to Vernon Johns Junior High School.

The junior high will house eighth-and ninth-grade students, a change from its current sixth through eighth grades.

The name change is part of the restructuring of secondary schools that the board approved earlier.
