Last 8 Marketplace tenants to leave Monday

City officials say the last eight tenants of 6th Street Marketplace will leave the building after accepting an offer that forgives half of back rent payments for some merchants and assists all eight with relocation funds of up to $25,000.
Linwood Norman, press secretary for Richmond Mayor L. Douglas Wilder, said the package will cost the city $105,000.
The merchants are all vendors in the food court, the last remaining section of the downtown marketplace. Norman said they would leave the building by the end of the business day Monday.
He said a consultant would assist the city in determining the best future use for the space.
