Brunswick County authorities have obtained first-degree murder indictments of two Baltimore men in connection with the May 8 shooting death of two first cousins in Brodnax.
"We are working with the U.S. Marshals to bring them in," said B.K. Roberts, Brunswick County sheriff. "We believe they have fled back to Baltimore."
James Burrell and Richard Trafton Jr., both 23, are wanted in the shooting deaths of William Hendricks Jr., 25, and Bryant Lambert, 20, both of the Brodnax area, a few miles from the Virginia-North Carolina line.
Hendricks was found lying in a front yard of the 100 block of Brodnax Road, and Lambert was found in the passenger seat of a car that had crashed into a nearby home.
Both had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso.
The day after the slayings, investigators found an ivory 2000 Cadillac sedan abandoned in the woods about 8 miles from the scene. Police believe it was involved in the slayings.
Burrell is described by police as a black male, 5-foot-11 and 225 pounds. Trafton is a black male, 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, police said.
The last homicides in Brunswick County occurred in February 2007.
