Above average rainfall continues in Richmond area

After one of the wettest Aprils on record, higher than normal rainfall continues to soak the Richmond area in May.
National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Lewitsky said that as of this evening, the total rainfall in the Richmond area for May was 2.68 inches, which is 1.38 inches above normal. For the year so far, the rainfall total is 18.87 inches, which is 3.69 inches above normal, he said.
The weather service forecasts a 40-percent chance of showers in the Richmond area Monday with a northwest wind between 13 and 20 mph and a high near 58 degrees. Tuesday should be sunny and warmer with a high near 71.
