The driver of a minivan was killed about 3:25 p.m. when his vehicle slammed into a stopped school bus on U.S. 360 at the intersection with Goodes Bridge Road in Amelia County, a state police spokesman said. The man who was killed is from the Amelia area, police said, but his name was not released.
Two male students, ages 13 and 18, from Amelia County were taken by a rescue squad to VCU Medical Center and five others were taken to the hospital by their families, but none were believed to be seriously injured, the spokesman said.
The bus contained 43 students from kindergarten through high school, authorities said.
The crash temporarily blocked one eastbound lane of U.S. 360.
