Former Gov. Mark R. Warner promised to seek bipartisan solutions to the nation's problems as he launched his campaign for the U.S. Senate before a noisy crowd in Richmond today.
The Democrat said the United States needs to end its reliance on foreign oil and to start to bring its troops home from Iraq, although he gave no timetable.
Warner appeared with Gov. Timothy M. Kaine and Rep. Robert C. Scott, D-3rd, at the Virginia Biotechnology Center in downtown Richmond.
Warner, governor from 2002 to 2006, is seeking to succeed the retiring Sen. John W. Warner, a Republican.
