CULPEPER -- A hearing for convicted murderer Ricky Gray has been postponed until June 4.
Attorneys for Gray, 30, were expecting a Culpeper Circuit Court judge to rule on their request for information related to the cooperation of a prosecution witness. Commonwealth's Attorney Gary Close didn't give a reason for the delay.
Gray is charged with killing Sherri Warner, 37, in December 2005. He already faces a death sentence for killing a family of four in Richmond in January 2006.
Circuit Judge John Cullen in March denied the prosecution's motion to allow testimony from Timothy Thomas, a Cumberland County prison inmate who had testified that Gray's girlfriend implicated Gray in Warner's death. Cullen ruled that prosecutors failed to establish the inmate's statements as reliable.
A 10-day jury trial is scheduled for September.
