A steel sewer cover got knocked loose along Virginia Commonwealth University's Monroe Park campus this morning, creating a traffic hazard on West Cary Street.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which took place shortly before 7:30 a.m. near the Laurel Street intersection.

But it left a round hole in the street, and Richmond police were directing traffic around the site while authorities waited for city public works crews to replace the broken cover.
