Henrico St. Joseph's Villa will hold its 14th annual Hoedown tomorrow from 7 to 11 p.m. The Hoedown features bluegrass music by the Lonesome River Band. Proceeds support Flagler Home, a transitional housing program for homeless women and their children. Tickets are $75 and may be purchased through the St. Joseph's Villa Development Office. Richmond Retired school administrators Aubrey Fountain and Beverly Braxton will serve as interim co-principals at Open High School through the end of the school year, officials said this week. Principal Priscilla Green, who announced her retirement this year, is on medical leave.

Powhatan A Wythe County juvenile court judge charged with a hit-and-run crash in Powhatan County will appear in Powhatan General District Court on June 27, the county prosecutor said. On April 27, M. Keith Blankenship, 43, was driving north on Huguenot Springs Road about 5:15 p.m. when he struck a telephone-line box, crossed the road and hit an embankment and uprooted a tree, a state police spokeswoman said. That evening, state police found Blankenship at a hotel in Chesterfield County. A month earlier, he had been charged in Smyth County with driving under the influence.

Henrico Want to find a good home for your old trumpet and help students at the same time? A local Boy Scout is collecting used band instruments, cleaning and repairing them and donating them to an area middle school. David Roop, a student at Deep Run High School, is looking for gently used instruments to donate to the music program at Fairfield Middle School. The project will help fulfill his Eagle Scout requirements. Chesterfield Tomorrow is the deadline to register for Chalkley Elementary's fourth annual School/Community 5K run/walk at 10 a.m. on May 17. Petersburg The national Perfection on Wheels BMX Stunt Team is bringing its show to Walnut Hill Elementary School today for students who sold items for the school PTA's annual fundraising campaign. The bicycle motocross team combines stunts with an anti-gang, anti-drug and anti-bullying message. The show starts at 1:30 p.m. on the school's playground. After the show, Superintendent James M. Victory will speak. Two students who raised the most money will each receive a bicycle.

AROUND THE STATE

Lynchburg Central Virginia Community College will hold an open house Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Merritt Hall's multipurpose room for students interested in a four-year engineering program, a partnership between the community college and the University of Virginia. The program has been expanded to include wireless technology, in addition to mechanical, electrical and material science course studies.

Loudoun The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has charged an assistant principal at Freedom High School with failing to report suspected child abuse or neglect. The sheriff's office said Ting-Yi Oei, 59, of Reston held evidence of an inappropriate cell-phone photo of a female student but never told the girl's parents or authorities. The charge is a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine up to $500.
