The 2008 Guildfield Baptist Church Debutante Ball was held April 19, 2008, at the Powhatan United Methodist Church.

Four debutantes were presented from area churches. They are:

Tianna Artece Thornton, a senior at Powhatan High School. She is a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She plans to attend nursing school this fall. Tianna was presented by her mother, Tywanda Morse, and her grandfather Deacon David Thornton Jr. She was escorted by Aaron Cousins.

Bethany Juneay Tillman, a junior at Powhatan High School. She is a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She plans to pursue a singing career. Bethany was presented by her mother, Betty Tillman, and her brother, Johnny Tillman Jr. Bethany was escorted by Martin Luten.

Dora Braxton, a senior at Powhatan High School. She is a member of Second Antioch Baptist Church. She plans to attend Virginia State University in the fall. Dora was presented by her mother, Audrey Hill, and her father, William Braxton. She was escorted by Damien Tyler Harris.

Keonia Nichole Dickerson, a sophomore at Powhatan High School. She is a member of Guildfield Baptist Church. She enjoys writing poetry and participating in church activities. Keonia was presented by her parents, Ann Hawks and Bruce Dickerson. She was escorted by Jamie Ellis.

Janet Cousins and Rochelle Vaughan-Thomas were chairpersons of the event, and Cora Mitchell was co-chairperson, all of Guildfield Baptist Church.

Nearly 200 people attended the ball, which is a fundraiser for Guildfield Baptist Church.
