Richmond At least three high school students complained of injuries yesterday after a city school bus and a car collided about 8:40 a.m. at Clay and Harrison streets. Two students were fitted with neck braces and taken to VCU Medical Center. A third was taken home. The bus driver complained of a headache and also was taken to the hospital. Police said the car's driver, who was not injured, was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

Fort Lee About 90 Fort Lee soldiers have returned to their home post after a 15-month deployment in Iraq. The soldiers of the 16th Field Services Company reunited with their families, friends and colleagues at a welcome-home ceremony yesterday. The Fort Lee soldiers handled laundry and shower operations at 11 locations in Iraq, processing more than 325,000 bundles of laundry and providing showers for 25,000 troops.
Henrico Police are investigating a rash of vandalism crimes during the weekend. Most of the damage was to vehicles from pellet guns and from splattered mustard and ketchup. As many as 48 vehicles were damaged. Police said the vandalism Saturday night and Sunday morning focused on the Kingsley subdivision near Pump and Gayton roads. But other acts were directed at Tuckahoe Village West, which is west of Lauderdale Drive, and near the West End Assembly of God on North Parham Road.

Harrisonburg A Baltimore woman who police said put her newborn into a trash bin pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count. Sarah Elisabeth Wolf entered her plea Monday to one count of disposing of a body on private property without written permission of the landowner. Despite a search that included sorting through 300 tons of trash, the newborn's body was never found. An investigation concluded that Wolf had given birth in a dorm bathroom at Bridgewater College on Jan. 25, 2007. Wolf said the baby was stillborn.
Fredericksburg About 125 Virginia National Guard soldiers are to return to Fredericksburg today after serving in Iraq and Kuwait since September. The soldiers with F Company of the 429th Brigade Support Battalion are scheduled to be back at their home armory about 7 p.m., though that time could change, according to the state Guard. Soldiers from two other units -- Winchester-based Headquarters Company and Fredericksburg-based D Company, both with the 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team -- are to return to their armories tomorrow from the Middle East.
Lynchburg Central Virginia Community College will conduct its 40th commencement exercises at 7 p.m. tomorrow at The Vine Center on the Liberty University campus. College President Darrel W. Staat will preside over the ceremonies. The community college will confer 339 associate degrees as well as 104 diplomas and certificates to students completing their studies in the 2007-2008 academic year.
