Former Gov. Mark R. Warner raised $3 million in the three months ended Sept. 30 to bring the fundraising total for his U.S. Senate campaign to $12.3 million.

Former Gov. Jim Gilmore, who is opposing the Democrat for the Senate seat, declined to release his numbers, which are expected to be far less than Warner's. Financial reports were due to be filed today with the federal Election Commission.

A spokeswoman for Gilmore said the report was filed with the Secretary of the Senate, but the staff was too busy with get-out-the-vote efforts to make the numbers available.
