A 12-day search for missing outdoorsman Earl Funk ended today when his body was found in the Browns Cove area of Albemarle County, the National Park Service announced.

Funk, 49, had gone ginseng hunting in Shenadoah National Park on Sept. 29. When he failed to return home the next day, his friends notified authorities.

More than 150 employees from several agencies were involved in the search, said park spokeswoman Karen Beck-Herzog.

She said Albemarle police will investigate the cause of his death. Further details were unavailable.
