Hanover County authorities are investigating two separate explosions of plastic bottle bombs Thursday night at two high schools.
No one was hurt or in immediate danger in either incident, authorities said.
One of the bombs exploded about 8 p.m. behind bleachers at Lee-Davis High School during a football game, said Hanover sheriff' Sgt. Chris Whitley. The game was not interrupted.
The other bomb went off about 9 p.m. behind bleachers at Hanover High School, Whitley said. In both cases, deputies who were working security at the games heard the explosions.
Authorities are calling the incidents pranks, but they emphasized that someone could have been hurt.
Hanover deputies are working with the county fire marshal's office, and they are turning to the public to help them identify a suspect or suspects.
Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call (804) 365-6140. -- Reed Williams
