The State Fair of Virginia will move from Laburnum Avenue in Henrico County to Caroline County next year.

In the meantime, the fair is looking forward to its final year at the Richmond International Raceway complex.

The fair opens Sept. 25 and runs through Oct. 5. It will feature all the shows, competitions and rides that visitors have come to expect.

The State Fair of Virginia, founded in 1906, has been held at the Laburnum Avenue complex, now owned by RIR, every year since 1946.

The organization broke ground for its new complex at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, near Kings Dominion, on April 22. The first phase of the fair's new home is scheduled to be ready by August 2009.
