Lunenburg County today identified the body of a Blackstone man who was found in a burning car last month near Victoria.

Thurman Oliver Jr. had been reported missing by his wife early Aug. 24. Oliver had not been seen since the previous night, according to police. His remains were found by a Lunenburg deputy that night in the front seat of a car burning in a wooded area three miles north of Victoria.

Lunenburg Sheriff Arthur Townsend state the state medical examiner's office had identified the remains as Oliver, but had not determined a cause of death.

The death remains under investigation.
