NORFOLK -- One of two finalists for the presidency of Old Dominion University has withdrawn from consideration.
Deborah Stanley's decision leaves Richard Davenport, president of Minnesota State University, Mankato, atop the list.
Stanley has been president of State University of New York at Oswego for 13 years. She announced her decision to withdraw from consideration for the ODU job today on her university's Web site.
Old Dominion is seeking a successor to Roseann Runte, who left in June to take the helm of Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. ODU's governing board met for more than two hours yesterday to discuss the search but did not make a decision.
The board has temporarily suspended its search for a new president and did not specify how long the search process will be on hold.
