Richmond Fire Chief Robert A. Creecy has named a new deputy chief and two new staff battalion chiefs.

Ron Wakeham has been promoted to deputy chief commanding the department's operations division. Wakeham, who has 30 years of fire and EMS service, is wrapping up his duties teaching at the National Fire Academy and the University of Richmond.

David C. Creasy Sr. has been named the department's fire marshal. Creasy was with the Richmond fire department from 1971 to 1974 before transferring to Chesterfield County, where he served as fire marshal for 14 years before his retirement in 2001. He continued to teach for the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy and is an active volunteer with Chesterfield Fire Station 11.

The other battalion chief's post goes to Tracy Thomas with the Emergency Medical Services and Safety Unit. She has more than 30 years of experience in EMS activities, most recently as executive director of the Old Dominion Emergency Medical Services Alliance.
