So has he been told?
"I'm going to let the campaign take it from here, I really am," said Gov. Timothy M. Kaine this afternoon responding to questions about whether he would be Sen. Barack Obama's running mate
"They are going to reveal what they want to reveal when they want to reveal it. Again, it's nice to be mentioned, but I'm going to let them do the heavy lifting from this point forth."
Kaine's caginess came after an appearance on an anti-drunk driving initiative press conference for Checkpoint Strikeforce in Hanover County this afternoon.
The governor, who appeared earlier in the day with Obama in Chester, said he thought the candidate's latest swing through the state has "been great."
"I could feel a lot of enthusiasm there...
Kaine said he thought voters came away "very impressed" and that Obama's attention to the state made it clear that he plans to pay a lot of attention to Virginia in the run up to the fall election.
Kaine repeated what he'd said before regarding his mention as a possible running mate.
"It makes me feel good, you know. It's very flattering to be mentioned. I've always thought it sounded, you know, a bit unlikely, but I'm not going to tell you it hasn't been flattering."
Kaine was asked about his schedule over the next few days leading up to the Democratic convention and said he was going to be flying out to Denver tomorrow with his family. When asked if he was going to make a stop-over in Springfield, Ill, where Obama is set to announce his running mate on Saturday, Kaine's only response was, "I'm flying out tomorrow night is what I'm going to say."
