Lifeguards at a Hanover County water park rescued a Richmond boy this afternoon, an emergency service official said.

Hanover County Fire and EMS received a call from Cobblestones, a recreational park formerly called Overhill Lake, off Mountain Road in Glen Allen, shortly before 2 p.m., said Lt. Larry Snyder.

An 8-year-old boy had been found floating on the surface of the pool with foam around his mouth, Snyder said.

The child was unresponsive when lifeguards pulled him from the water, Snyder said. By administering first aid, the lifeguards were able to get the child breathing.

He was taken to Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Snyder said.

"There aren’t enough accolades for the lifeguards at the park," he said. "It was a scary situation that had a positive outcome."
