A Charles City County man who held police at bay in a standoff that lasted several hours Saturday was arraigned this morning.

Charles R. Acey, 55, was arraigned in Charles City County General District Court on nine counts of assaulting a police officer, nine of using a firearm in a felony, 10 of brandishing a firearm, one of reckless handling of a firearm and one of public drunkenness.

Acey, arrested about 10:15 p.m. Saturday by Virginia State Police tactical team officers, is being held in Riverside Regional Jail.
