Virginia is among 10 states with the nation's highest foreclosure rates, according to data released yesterday.

There were 5,745 foreclosure filings in Virginia in July, according to RealtyTrac Inc., an online sellers of foreclosed properties. That works out to one foreclosure every 562 households, and it is 193 percent higher than the rate a year ago.

It also is 9 percent higher than in June, when 5,255 houses received foreclosure notices and the state ranked 11th in the nation.
