Henrico County police today said a bat found Sunday in a bedroom at a house near Godwin High School has tested positive for rabies.

There was no known exposure, but due to Virginia Department of Health protocol, the bat found in the 1900 block of Raintree Drive, just east of Godwin High, was submitted for testing.

Results were returned this morning.

State health officials will contact the homeowner and provide counsel about medical treatment if necessary.
